Large antique Chinese temple gong from Hubei estimated at 75 to 100 years old. These gongs, which look very similar to singing bowls, are only meant to be struck when played. This gong is hand hammered and made from black bronze. These gongs are typically played in Mahayana Buddhist Chinese temples used for summoning and mediation. These gongs are also commonly called used in Japanese zen practice and are called zen kesu gongs. Includes wood striker.
