An antique single handled grain measure from Shanxi Province, China estimated at 1940s-1950s. These rustic containers are used for measuring a specific about of grain. Most likely from the Communist Era when a certain amount of grain was allotted to each person or family. This box features iron bindings on the edges, made from dark wood and faded Chinese characters on the sides.
Condition: Good, with wear consistent with age. Appears as if the wood was repaired with staples.
Measures: 15x15x11" H
